How to Book a Live Wedding Painter in the UK (Step-by-Step Guide)

If you’ve decided you want a live wedding painter for your wedding, the next step is knowing how to actually book one.

Many couples discover live wedding painting and love the idea—but aren’t sure:

  • when to book

  • what information they need

  • how the process works

This guide walks you through exactly how to book a live wedding painting service with Kerri Anne Artist step by step.

Kerri Anne Artist - Live Wedding Guest Painting

Step 1: Decide What Type of Live Painting You Want

Before you enquire with me, it helps to know which service suits your wedding.

Most couples choose between:

Live Guest Portraits

A6 faceless watercolour portraits of guests, hand-sketched and painted throughout the wedding day.

Live Newlyweds Painting (A3 or A2)

A larger, more detailed painting of the couple, based on a pre-agreed moment captured on the day.

Some couples also choose a combination of both, with the newlyweds painted after the event.

Step 2: Check Availability Early

As a solo live wedding artist, I often take on a limited number of weddings per year, as once a date is booked, that is it, especially during peak wedding season (May–September).

👉 Ideally, you should book:

  • 9–18 months in advance for peak dates

  • 6–12 months for off-peak dates

If your wedding is sooner, it’s still worth enquiring with me as last-minute dates do occasionally become available.

Step 3: Send an Enquiry

When you enquire with me for your Live Wedding Painting, you’ll be asked on the enquiry form for:

  • wedding date

  • venue location

  • estimated guest numbers

  • estimated booking start time

  • the type of service you're interested in

  • if you would like any add-ons

This helps me provide accurate availability and pricing. Check out the enquiry form here.

Step 4: Review Packages & Pricing

After your enquiry, you’ll receive a link with a quote containing:

  • package and add on options

  • pricing (service, plus mileage and potentially overnight accommodation)

  • details of what’s included

This is your chance to decide:

  • how many hours you’d like

  • whether you want guest portraits, a newlyweds painting, or both

  • any add-ons or custom requests

Step 5: Secure Your Date

To officially book me in as your live wedding painter, you’ll need to:

✔ Accept your quote

✔ Sign the booking contract
✔ Pay the 20% deposit (or the full balance if your date is less than 6 weeks away)

Once this is complete, your date is secured.

Step 6: Pre-Wedding Planning

Closer to your wedding, i will plan the details with you, including:

  • timeline of the day so that my start time fits your day

  • what i need at the venue

  • my insurance information (if required by your venue)

For newlyweds paintings:

  • you’ll agree on a specific moment in advance

  • i will capture this moment in a photo on the day

  • the painting is created from that image

Step 7: What Happens on the Wedding Day

On the day, i will:

  • take photos of guests, mostly at the beginning but also throughout the event

  • create live paintings from those images

  • display the finished paintings for everyone to view throughout the day

This ensures a smooth experience without interrupting guests.

Common Mistakes to Avoid When Booking

❌ Leaving it too late

Popular dates book up quickly! My most popular months are May, July & August!

❌ Not understanding the process

Make sure you know how the artist works, and you read all the terms and conditions on your quote and contract.

❌ Choosing purely on price

Quality and experience matter; I paint with quality over quantity in mind. This is a luxury professional service and a lasting keepsake.

How to Choose the Right Live Wedding Painter

Look for:

  • a strong, consistent art style

  • real wedding examples

  • clear communication

  • experience with live events

Your artist should feel like a natural fit for your wedding aesthetic and energy.
